About Me
Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, I began my musical journey when I was five years old. I became a student of Marylene Dosse, a phenomenal pianist, private teacher, and professor at Penn State, at the age of eight, becoming her youngest student at the time. Since then, I went to the Penn State Music camp twice, once winning a full scholarship, and later attended PSU for Piano Performance and Music Education. I have been maintaining a private piano studio for the last 13 years and have worked with students of all levels and ages, from beginners to advanced teens preparing for college auditions, and adults fulfilling childhood dreams. In 2017 I was hired as a piano instructor at a music academy in Asheville, North Carolina, and learned a lot from the experience. Though I enjoyed working in a school, I found that maintaining a private studio was more fulfilling for me, allowing me to work with a bigger variety of students.
I love working with people to help them achieve their goals, and I think learning should be a combination of hard work, determination, but most importantly joy and love. I believe that musicality, an emotional understanding of each piece you play, is just as important as technique. After all technique can be improved with time and practice, but what gives life to music is the heart and soul that is put into it through musical expression. Playing an instrument is a great way to improve work ethic, exercise the brain, as well as improve coordination, and if done correctly, experience a great deal of joy. My mission is to help each student reach their goals and max potential, while instilling a true appreciation of music and music theory. Let's find passion, creativity, and explore our minds!
Curriculum
Book and Materials I use in my Lessons
I like variety. I believe that students find lessons more interesting when study materials are versatile. Working with different types of music will help students grow as well.
12 A Day
I love this book series. It gives short exercises which progress in difficulty for students to complete every day at the beginning of practice sessions as a warm up, and sight reading practice.
Scales
Yes, I said the dreaded words. But scales don't have to be boring, and they improve finger strength and technique like nothing else, as well as help learn some theory, like the circle of fifths!
Sight Reading, Ear Training and Beginning Theory
Learning to read music well will help you progress quickly and effortlessly, and training your ears to hear intervals and notes correctly is very beneficial for any instrument. Knowing key signatures, chords, how to write, and build chords and scales will give you a whole new understanding of music.
Piano Adventures Series
This series has many short pieces already compiled into levels, which are fun to play. These are a great way to move quickly through repertoire.
Popular songs, Disney, and Holiday
It's always great to incorporate your favorite melodies into your playing, especially ones that you can play at special events for family. It helps to keep things fresh and extra fun!
Classical Repertoire
For those who wish to get acquainted with classical piano music, there is an endless variety to choose from from Bach to Brahms to Debussy. Learning to appreciate the nuances of classical music and each period, from baroque to modern, will open your musical horizons and allow to experience great joy. Nothing is off the table.

Jazz
A great way to learn rhythm, and shake things up, jazz is a fantastic way to improve technique, while having a blast!
Etudes
From Czerny to Chopin to Liszt, all etudes are beneficial, and often required in college auditions as well as competitions. But a lot of them are absolutely gorgeous.

Piano Pronto
This series is great for beginners to learn to read music. The first book adds one new note at a time, making it very easy to follow. The series offers simplified popular classical melodies that are familiar to the ear.
Lessons
Length and Price
Students should pay using cash, PayPal or Venmo before each lesson.
Weekend rates include a $5 surcharge per class
$45
Half Hour Lesson
I recommend a shorter lesson for young children. It is often more productive to have one or two shorts lessons a week than one long lesson. Students tend to retain more information this way.
$65
45 Minute Lesson
Perfect for advanced beginners and people with busy schedules. I recommend not jumping from 30 to 60 minutes, but first doing 45 minutes to adjust.
$90
One Hour
Perfect for intermediate and advanced students as well as adults. Those who are preparing for auditions or competitions may wish to do these twice a week as well.
I am also offering online video lessons due to the current health situation. For those interested in this, either contact me directly, or book and let me know in the details.
